Gus Dubus Scholarships
The Propeller Club provides annual scholarships to students in the Logistics and Intermodal Transportation program and to other college students studying to obtain a degree and seek a career in the Maritime Industry. Four Annual Scholarships of $1000.00 each are offered to deserving applicants who meet the qualifying criteria as described in the application form.
Our scholarships are in honor and recognition of Gustave Robert Dubus, III ("Gus"), a maritime lawyer in Savannah for over twenty-five years, practicing as a partner in the firm of Chamlee, Dubus & Sipple. Gus was a member and president of The Propeller Club of the Port of Savannah and spearheaded, along with others, the Propeller Club of the United States national convention in Savannah in the 1980s. Gus was a graduate of Washington and Lee University and the University of Georgia Law School. Gus' law practice consisted of the representation of shipowners and vessel underwriters in all types of maritime cases. He was a member of The Maritime Law Association of the United States and the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. Gus was well known and highly respected in the maritime community.
